Artist & Visionary
Boo McCaleb (he/they), also known as Booscapes, is a Minneapolis-based Black transmasculine projection artist VJ, and creative technologist whose work bridges visual art, storytelling, community engagement, and immersive design. Booscapes transforms public spaces through ephemeral installations constructed with light, sound, sculpture, video, and projection. In their practice, Booscapes centers light, interaction, Black ecology, spirituality, queerness, and the collective imagination. With a background in cultural studies and public art, Booscapes uses projection as both a tool and a source of magic for joy, healing, and transformation. In 2024, Booscapes was named Digital Artist of the Year by the Loring Collective and was elected to serve as a Public Arts Commissioner for the City of Minneapolis.
